LCP: Pensions Bill Unpacked: Navigating change and consolidation

This webinar, led by LCP experts Lydia Fearn, Stephen Budge, and Steve Webb, focuses on the recently published Pension Schemes Bill and its implications for defined contribution (DC) savers, employers, trustees, and the DC industry.
July 15, 2025
June 17, 2025

This webinar covers:

  • Defined Contribution changes: The Pension Schemes Bill introduces significant changes for Defined Contribution savers, including a mandatory 5% investment in UK private markets, aiming to inject £15 billion into the economy by 2030.
  • Value for Money: The Bill mandates pension schemes to assess and publicly rate their value for money, with the regulator having the power to override self-assessments and enforce actions like member transfers or scheme wind-ups.
  • Small pot consolidation: Small pension pots under £1,000 will be consolidated into authorised central schemes to reduce administrative costs and improve efficiency, with potential future increases in the consolidation threshold.
  • Default income strategies: Trustees are required to implement default retirement income strategies to provide regular income for members, with flexibility for multiple defaults based on individual member needs.
  • ESG investment metrics: The bill emphasises the importance of forward-looking metrics and ESG considerations in investment strategies, aiming to ensure long-term responsible investing and better outcomes for pension members.

Who should watch?

This webinar will be of interest to DC Corporate Sponsors, DC Trustees, DC Pension Managers and anyone else interested in DC pension schemes.
